It is the time to let old acquaintances be forgot... 2005 is now behind us and what do we have to look forward to? Well, a new Shamu Show. 2005 was to have been a year of change for the little park. New management in place to cure all the issues caused by the neglect of previous administrations. Rescripting of shows that had remained unchanged for years. The remodeling and rebuilding of buildings that had had been allowed to pass into a state of disrepair. My goodness 2005 had been a great year for Sea World San Diego, just like up the road at the Disneyland Resort. Well, not entirely. It can not be denied that there has been progress. The upkeep of the park has greatly improved. No longer are paint jobs waiting until management from corporate files in. The landscaping has never looked better. Superficially the park looks great, just don't look too deep.

Lights, Camera, Submarine! New for 2005 was Clyde and Seamore in Deep Deep Trouble. Staring everyones favorite penipeds in what was to have been the biggest budgeted show for these flippered actors including the most “elaborate” and “complex” stage this stadium had ever seen. Well, um... Ok. Since the first show held for passmember previews there has been more script rewrites than fish in the sea. That in combination with the rather hideous appearance of the “submarine” stage and trainers who have the acting talents better suited for the dolphin show have led up to a show that many people just pass up. Recently on the Travel Chanel there was a show about Sea World Orlando. During the Segment about the Sea Lion and Otter show they made the comment that any new material that they found that worked would be incorporated into the shows at the other parks. This I think would hold true except for San Diego whom ended up giving Orlando some of the best jokes for their show from San Diego's former Zombie Zelebration and apparently got nothing in return. Hopefully some new paint and another script rewrite that I hear is in the future will help the matter.
